June 20, 2010 I would like to thank all the volunteers and donors that have made DBA the foundation that it has become since it's start in 2004. We started out as a small organization hosting an annual Track & Field Event Fundraiser to our First Annual Fire of Life Silent and Live Auction assisiting kids with organ transplants who want to attend summer camp but could not afford the tuition. We now provide a monthly support group, mentoring program, public speaking and financial assistance and camp tuition. At the start of 2010 DBA began to recieve more request for the programs we offer that the volunteer staff could handle, DBA is run soley on volunteers no paid staff. The board of directors and my self sat down and decided the best way to service the community and the needs of the foundation is to re-structure the foundation and start a new business plan. Due to this massive under taking of DBA we will not be awarding any grants or hosting our monthly support group for the year 2010. Our new plan will include hiring office staff and move into a profossioanl office setting were we can provide more assistance on a regular basis and work on our five year goal of bringing a satalite transplant office to the Cape Cod and Islands for transplants that cannot afford to travel off Cape for thier medical needs. Our goal is to raise $50,000.00 for the new structure of DBA, donations are still being accepted. I look foward to assisting many more transplants with thier needs and posting our new business plan for 2011 when it is finalized. Thank you again for your support, as a fellow transplant I remind you to "Live it and Give it"! |
